Daffodil Marine Festival

3-13-2020, We regret to inform you that the 2020 Daffodil Marine Festival and Parade has been cancelled. We will be contacting all registrants shortly. Thank you for your patience.

Tacoma Yacht Club’s Daffodil Weekend is rapidly approaching. This year’s theme is “Honoring the Past”. We would like to cordially invite you to join the 69th annual Daffodil Marine Festival and Parade.

The basin crew will be ready to welcome visiting boaters beginning at noon on Thursday, April 16th. If you are coming by boat, we will find moorage for you; however we cannot always guarantee power.  Also, we cannot guarantee that you will have pet friendly access to shore so please consider before bringing your dogs.

On Friday afternoon, April 17th, from 2-4pm join us on the TYC deck for FREE Beer and Appetizers. There will be a lottery drawing Friday night at 7pm for trivia seating and your placement in the Token Parade.  After the drawing the entertainment begins with Brant Butte, Let's Dance DJ. The dance party will be “The Past Rocks”.  Come dressed up as one of your favorite people in history! Come dressed up as JFK, Eleanor Roosevelt or the Wright Brothers; the choice is up to you!  The Daffodil Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs will be awarding the best costume(s) of the evening, so come prepared to compete for the top spot and to dance the night away!.

One of the highlights of the weekend is trivia along with the Token Parade on Saturday afternoon,
April 18th at 1:30 PM followed by Jeopardy Trivia Contest from 2-4 PM. Please take careful note of the following for trivia:

  • We will use the same Trivia format as last year.
  • Each club will select a team of no more than five people to compete in the trivia contest.
  • These official teams will be seated in the first rows. Their exact location will be determined by the lottery drawing on Friday night.
  • Once the teams are seated, other club members will be escorted into the ballroom to cheer on their team during the competition.

Saturday night there is a dinner buffet from 5:30 – 8:30 PM followed by live music featuring “The Stacy Jones Band” and karaoke in the Crow’s Nest for those who would like to sing the night away.

Sunday April 19th, the weekend will culminate with the Decorated Boat Parade along Tacoma waterfront followed by an awards ceremony at the clubhouse. We are looking forward to seeing your creative efforts!

Each club must register and each boat or RV planning on attending must complete a registration form and pay the registration fee (non-refundable) $25.  The registration deadline is March 28, 2020 or until we reach our limit. If you have questions, please refer to our website or email Bentley Rickmers at: tycdaffodil@gmail.com. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate any boats over 65' in length.

Each participating club’s commodore and a guest are invited to a reception in the Crow’s Nest of the TYC clubhouse on Saturday, April 18th at 4:30 pm. Dress will be boating casual.

The Tacoma Yacht Club looks forward to you spending the weekend with us during the Daffodil Weekend Festival!
