The Junior Program...Twenty Years of Sailing Instruction

As another summer approaches we ready our fleet, put together our instructor corps and reflect on this wonderful role we play in teaching young people the art of sailing. Our goal has always focused on providing the opportunity to our entire youth community to come and learn to sail and increase their skills. In 1992 that was our vision and in 2011 it is the same. It's been fun, rewarding and exciting to see kids in boats gaining confidence and new skills. In the years to come we hope that such skills will lead to more lifetime sailors and many other well rounded, confident sailors-in-waiting with something that not many others have - they know how to sail.
What we provide is a series of two week courses of instruction, designed to teach basic sailing theory, rigging, boat handling, daily on water sailing, water safety and responsibility. Students are grouped based on age and skill level into small groups each individually taught by a US Sailing Certified Level One Instructor. We provide all the equipment, the instruction and stand alongside all boats on the water with our fleet of safety boats and instructors. Students are challenged and advance as their skills allow.
For those returning for another session, welcome back. For the first time sailor, we hope to offer a safe, fun, custom experience that you can get in few other places. We are committed to providing the best equipment, instructional staff and curriculum that we can. We look back on over 3000 students we have sailed with and look forward to the year and the decade ahead. Many people and efforts have helped create our Program and we are indebted to the individuals, organizations, instructors, and donors who helped create this opportunity.
