Daffodil Parade Judging Criteria

DAFFODIL JUDGING CRITERIA FOR 2012

CLASSES:

1st, 2nd & 3rd place trophies will be awarded in the following classes: Theme, Classic Wooden and Flagship.

Theme: Vessels decorated to meet the theme "Don't Stop Believing" using daffodils (minimum 1000, maximum 5,000) and other decorations.

Classic Wooden: Classic wooden vessels decorated to meet the theme "Don't Stop Believing" using daffodils (minimum none, maximum 3,000) and other decorations.

Flagship: Vessels carrying Bridge Officers from participating clubs.  Vessels to be decorated with daffodils (minimum 500, maximum 3000) and other club identifiers (flags, pennants, banners).

NEW CLASSES:

Best in show (1st place) trophy will be awarded to the following classes: Youth and Military.

Youth: Vessels operated and decorated by a clubs' youth program to meet the theme "Don't Stop Believing" using daffodils (minimum 500, maximum 3,000) and other decorations.

Military: Vessels operated by a military organization decorated to meet the theme "Don't Stop Believing" using daffodils (minimum 500, maximum 3000) and other decorations.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

Theme, Classic Wooden, and Youth will be judged on the following criteria:

ORIGINALITY 10
GENERAL APPEARANCE (Balance, Neatness)   10
THEME DEPICTION (Expression of theme) 10
USE OF DAFFODILS (Creativity, NOT quantity) 10
COLOR PRESENTATION (Use of colors) 10
POSSIBLE POINT TOTAL 50

Flagship and Military will be judged on the following criteria:

  Points
OVERALL NAUTICAL APPEARANCE 10
SHIP COMPANY AT ATTENTION (No salute) 10
PROPER SALUTING BY FLAG OFFICERS 10
SIMILARITY OF CREW DRESS 10
PROPER USE OF SIGNAL FLAGS 10
USE OF DAFFODILS 10
POSSIBLE POINT TOTAL 60

 

JUDGING: 

Judging will take place as the vessels leave the basin, taking a hard starboard turn to pass in review of the judging stand adjacent to the TYC flagpole.

Note: Boats can participate in the parade in a "unjudged" category.  These boats will not be graded.
