***Notice of Race***
The Tacoma Yacht Club presents
First signal at 0825
Join us for the 38th running of this fun annual event that will take the fleet from the start/finish line off Tacoma Yacht Club, around Vashon Island finishing back at TYC. In addition to PHRF classes there will also be a cruising class. The event is open to flying and non-flying sails entries in both classes. After the race, snacks and refreshments will be served upstairs in the TYC clubhouse.
EVENT DETAILS:
Course-Traditional race around Vashon Island starting between a flag on the TYC deck and a buoy anchored approximately 100 yards offshore, around the island clockwise finishing at the starting point. There will be a limiting mark anchored off of the ferry dock at the north end of the Vashon Island. This mark shall be left to starboard. There will be a time limit of ten (10) hours from each class’s start time. The race may be shortened at the limiting mark at the north end of the island at the discretion of the race committee.
Cruising class start at 0830. The cruising class warning signal will sound at 0825.
PHRF starts will begin at 0900 with the first PHRF warning signal at 0855. Class breaks will be posted at the TYC clubhouse at 2000 hours Friday June 22. The number of classes will be solely based on the number of entries.
Eligibility- Must be a current PHRF-NW member, have a current PHRF rating (cruising class boats may apply for a temporary rating from the club handicapper), and belong to a PIYA affiliated yacht club
Rules- Notice of Race, General Sailing Instructions, ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing, and USCG VTS Navigation Rules.
Safety requirements- PIYA Category III- Except that any single or double-handed crews must wear PFDs at all times.
Race committee will monitor VHF channel 68 during the race. Please notify the committee of early withdrawal from the race.
Pre-registration is required for all entrants. Entry forms must be received no later than Thursday June 21, 2007. Late registration may be made in person at the TYC Clubhouse between 1700-1900 Friday, June 22. Race fee: $30. Late Registration Fee: $35
Protests MUST be delivered IN PERSON to Race Chairs Mark Lindeman or Jon Thompson prior to 2 hours after the finish of the last yacht or the expiration of the time limit. Please notify the Race Committee of your intent to protest upon crossing the finish line.
TYC will present awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place boats in each class.
Moorage is available the night before the race in the TYC basin immediately to your left as you enter the harbor.

Entries MUST be received via mail no later than Thursday, June 21, 2007. Late entries will be accepted at the Tacoma Yacht Club Friday, June 22, 2007 between 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A late fee will apply to all late entries.
Tacoma Yacht Club –2007 Summer Vashon Race
In consideration for participating in this event, I represent to its organizers that my yacht has liability insurance currently in effect, covering property damage, personal injury, and death in an amount not less that $300,000 per occurrence, and that the policy covers yacht racing activities. I acknowledge that the decision to enter my yacht and participate in this race is solely my own, and I agree to be bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing adopted by US Sailing, including national prescriptions, except as modified by the VTS Rules, the organizers, and the Notice of Race for this event. I shall monitor VHF channel 14 when in the vicinity of and while occupying the VTS lanes.
