Shipmates
| Since 1937 , Shipmates, Tacoma
Yacht Club's Women's Auxiliary has made many contributions to the
community and to this yacht club. We will continue the tradition. Shipmates has given scholarships to TYC's Junior Sailing Program, donated lots of sailing equipment as well as money to the program. We regularly contribute to Sea Scout boats S.E.S. Odyssey and S.E.S. Curtis. We support Foss Waterway Seaport. In addition to these maritime interests, Shipmates finances the Daffodil Princess's Miss Congeniality scholarship. We also donate to the Breast Cancer Research Center and the American Cancer Society. Over the years we have made significant contributions to the TYC Club facilities including the baby grand piano, propane heaters and dining furniture for the deck, dock carts used to transport gear to our boats, dishes and tables for the dining room. We also contributed a couple stoves to the Wollochet Bay outstation as well as the Big Toy. Shipmates is responsible for decorating the yacht club for Christmas holidays, hosting Children's Christmas Party as well as purchasing, wrapping and delivering Christmas gifts and dinners for needy families in our community. We accomplish this through our fund raising projects. This year we will sell Daffodil apparel, host our 2nd Auction on March 15 and have our annual Tour of Boats on May 17. Then we will continue our giving. It takes people to do this and I urge you to join us. We have good fellowship and lots of fun working together to accomplish these worthwhile projects. If you have any questions or suggestions or just want to become a Shipmate, call me. We have a place for you and we need help to do all we have planned. Join Shipmates and together we will continue to support TYC and our community. Carol Goforth, President
