Commodore's Message
Tacoma Yacht is the
best yacht club on Puget Sound! Our facility, basin and outstations are
excellent reasons why, but the best reason of all is the membership and
their commitment to making it the best.
Gail and I joined Tacoma Yacht Club in 1998 and have been involved in
club activities ever since. I have served as Fleet Captain and assistant
Fleet Captain, have chaired House and Grounds, New Year's Eve Ball, 4th
of July deck party for four years, a Board member for 4 years and
assisted in
numerous cruises and events. TYC has become what it is because of the
commitment of our members and I felt it my duty, as a member, to
participate. I am extremely honored to become your Commodore for the
year 2007-2008 and I will do my best to promote our club for the benefit
and enjoyment of our members.
I will do everything possible to create a positive environment, to
uphold the traditions, while embracing new ideas, that will continue the
growth and success of our club. We have an outstanding professional
staff to assist us in this endeavor. We have a Board of Trustees
dedicated to making our club financially sound, to become an active
participant in our community and to uphold our by-laws.
I strongly encourage all new members to get involved in your yacht club
by signing up for a cruise, to volunteer on a committee and to get
involved. In doing so, you will forge new friendships that can last a
lifetime.
Gail and I look forward to another great year and wish to thank all the
members for your support.
