Standing Committees

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is made up of at least 3 members, appointed by the Board of Trustees.  It's purpose is to study the financial welfare and financial requirements of the club.  This committee prepares the annual budget and makes studies and recommendations available to the Board and the Membership. 


 

Membership

The Membership Committee is responsible for marketing the club and recruiting new members, processing their applications.  Additionally, this committee arranges and carries out new member orientations and inducts new members at the general meeting.

 


 

House & Grounds

House & Grounds is a far-reaching committee that tackles club upkeep and special projects.  From spiffing-up the club for Daffodil to building a fence around the dumpsters, H&G is the group that gets it done ashore.  House & Grounds usually works in the background, but twice a year they request help for the Spring and Fall work parties.

 


 

Foreshore

Foreshore is made up of at least 6 members appointed by the Board.  Foreshore, under the direction of the Board, controls basin facilities, ensuring the basin regulations are met.  Additionally they plan and implement improvements and adjudicate basin disputes not resolvable by the Port Captain.

 


 

Planning

Planning is made up of at least 5 members who are neither officers or trustees, and are appointed by the Board.  Planning develops long-range recommendations as to club goals, membership, facilities and other matters as directed by the Board.  Planning operates as an advisory committee.


 

Power Boat

The Power Boat Committee plans and carries out the power boat racing program in accordance with International Power Boat Association (IPBA) rules.   Decisions of the committee are final, without appeal.

 


 

Sailboat Committee

The Sailboat Committee plans and carries out the sail boat racing program, including judging and resolution of protests.  Races are conducted in accordance with current rules of the United States Yacht Racing Union.  


 

Safety Officer

The Safety Officer is appointed by the Board and reports to the board.  Duties include seeing to the safe usage of the club facilities including clubhouse, moorage, outstations and other facilities.  The Safety Officer shall be a member of the Foreshore Committee.  Please remember that ultimate responsibility for safe usage of the club is the responsibility of the user.  


 

Outreach Committee

This is a Board appointed committee. The committee shall be responsible for investigation and proposing to the Board for approval various ways to partner with the  Metropolitan Parks District, surrounding communities, other yacht clubs, marinas and youth organizations. The partnerships developed will provide mutual support and methods to learn more about the needs and resources of each organization.
